QIDAN data analysis – housing

In August 2022, the Queensland Independent Disability Advocacy Network (QIDAN) met with the Hon Craig Crawford, Minister for Seniors and Disability Services and Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, to discuss some of the key issues that Queenslanders with disability experience. Following the meeting, QIDAN prepared a report for the Minister highlighting housing and tenancy as a key issue for Queenslanders seeking disability advocacy.

Housing is one of the biggest issues people with disability are seeking advocacy assistance for. 18.2% of people requesting advocacy assistance between January 2022 to July 2022 reported that their number one advocacy issue was related to housing. In addition to this, 16% of people seeking advocacy assistance were experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
