QDAN Renamed to QIDAN

After the official launch on 1 April 2022, the 11 organisations which collectively make up the Queensland Disability Advocacy Network met to discuss our systemic priorities for the upcoming year. During the day, the network decided to rename itself to the Queensland Independent Disability Advocacy Network.

The inclusion of the word ‘independent’ was unanimously voted to be included in the network’s title as independence is an important principle to advocacy and being an effective collective. Independence in the context of QIDAN refers to the independence advocates and advocacy organisation have from government, paid service providers and remaining free from conflicts of interest. QIDAN will always work to create systemic change, and this systemic change is influenced and informed by Queenslanders with disability.
