Who we are

Disability Advocacy Pathways is a Queensland-wide information and referral service that helps people with disability, their families, carers and supporters find the right advocacy support for their situation.

We understand that navigating disability services can be confusing and overwhelming. Our role is to make it easier by providing clear information and connecting people to advocacy organisations that can help them have their voice heard.

What we do

We listen to your situation, understand what support you need, and refer you to the most appropriate disability advocacy service based on:

  • The issue you are facing
  • Where you live in Queensland
  • Any specialist or priority needs you may have

We work with a network of funded disability advocacy, legal, community and mainstream services organisations across Queensland.

Who we help
  • People with disability
  • Families, carers and supporters
  • Advocates and community workers assisting someone with disability
Some of the priority populations we serve include
  • Children and young people with disability
  • First Nations people with disability
  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • People with cognitive or psychosocial disability
  • People with complex communication needs
  • LGBTQIA+ people with disability.
How we can help

Whether you’re facing challenges with housing, health, education, legal issues or emergency supports — or just need guidance navigating the support system — we help make the process simple, accessible and supportive. But beyond links and referrals, we aim to connect people to better outcomes with respect, dignity and inclusion. When you contact Pathways, we can help with:

  1. Information and guidance on
    • Disability advocacy and how it works
    • Your rights as a person with disability
    • What advocacy services are available in Queensland
    • Disaster preparedness for persons with disability
    • Where to go if advocacy isn’t the right support for your situation
  2. Referral to advocacy services

We connect people to advocacy organisations that can help with issues such as:
    • Accessing the NDIS
    • Preparing for or understanding NDIS plans
    • Plan reviews, reassessments and appeals
    • Problems with NDIS providers
    • Complaints to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
    • Disability supports
